Oak Park Weed & Seed
NeighborWorks® Home Ownership Center Sacramento Region (NeighborWorks® Sacramento) is proud of our coordinated efforts with Council Member Hammond and other community partners to bring $875,000 over five years to Oak Park through the federal Weed & Seed.
NeighborWorks® helped to lead the community team that developed the initial Weed and Seed application to the U.S. Department of Justice. In October 2006, Oak Park received official recognition as a Weed & Seed site. NeighborWorks® serves as the fiscal agent for Weed & Seed, employs the Site Coordinator and works together with the many stakeholders that are committed to the success of the project for the neighborhood.
Below is general information on Weed & Seed. For more information, go to www.oakparkna.org/weedandseed or contact Sharon Eghigian, Weed & Seed Site Coordinator, at 916-452-5356 ext. 217 or Sharon@nwsac.org.
What is Weed and Seed?
Weed & Seed is a community-based strategy sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Justice (DOJ) to "weed out" violent crime and drugs and "seed" with human services. Below is information on opportunities to become involved in Oak Park. For more information on any of these projects, contact Sharon at ladielawson@yahoo.com or 916-821-6027.
